Neighborhood Partnership Program sponsors several high quality programs in
the Northeast Los Angeles area. They provide invaluable work
experience to Oxy students interested in having a positive impact in
the community.

Who is qualified
for this job?
All
positions listed are open to all students from all years (including
work-study) and volunteer students. If you love working with children
or adolescents, enjoy sharing knowledge, skills, or your life experiences,
and would like to make a difference in our community—YOU QUALIFY!!
You
don’t need a car (we can provide transportation), and we encourage
students who are new to tutoring and mentoring!
What is the time
commitment for these positions?
The
time commitment for L.A. Bridges, Title One, and GEAR UP is a minimum of 6 hours (two
days at 3 hours a day) and maximum of 9 hours a week depending on your
availability.
Hours and Locations:
GEAR UP PHL Program
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30
p.m., Monday-Thursday
Locations: Eagle Rock,
Lincoln, and Franklin High School
Title ONE Program
Hours: 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.,
Monday-Friday
Locations: Eagle Rock
High School
L.A. Bridges Program
Hours: 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.,
Monday-Friday
Locations: Eagle Rock
High School
Can I choose the
site at which i will work or volunteer?
Applicants will be placed according to their experience, time commitments,
and individual site coordinators/lead tutors.
What kind of
training do I receive as a tutor?
All
employees must go through a rigorous (PAID!) training session prior
to being placed at a site. You will be notified of the days and times you
must attend training upon being hired. The training will prepare you for
various situations and circumstances that could arise during tutoring
sessions.
Do I receive
on-going support throughout the year?
Yes. All tutors will
receive support from the student coordinators, the Manager of Neighborhood
Partnership Programs, and their on-site coordinators/lead tutors.
